Di Raymond Owner and Manager

Driven by a passion for nourishing food, health and healing, Di heads up the team at BEAN. She studied food and healing at the National Gourmet Institute in Manhattan, before qualifying to become a Health Supportive Chef in New York. There, Di worked directly with families in the community to improve their nutrition through the power of delicious, healthy food. Di has two grown-up sons and lives locally in Ripon. When Di’s not working, she loves exploring local National Trust sites and playing tennis (she was a tennis coach before entering into the food industry). This year, Di’s personal mission is to learn how to sail!

Liz Campbell Manager

Liz manages our front of house and the team. She works very closely with her sister Di to make sure BEAN continues to be the unique and memorable destination cafe that it is today. Liz loves being hands-on, looking after our customers and making sure they have a great experience each and every time they visit BEAN. She lives in Selby and is married with two children. Outside of work, Liz enjoys an active lifestyle with hiking and tennis being two of her favourite pastimes.

Natalie Hardcastle Apprentice Chef

Natalie has recently joined BEAN as our Apprentice Chef, working alongside Nathan and George. She has a real energy for great food and is currently studying towards her NVQ level 2 at York College. Natalie has a wonderfully calm personality, making her a great asset in our busy kitchen.

George Stores Chef

George is the other half of our fantastic chef duo. He has undertaken NVQs in Catering & Hospitality and has worked his way up in the kitchens at a number of local pubs, including the Black A Moor Inn in Ripon.
If you’re wondering what to try on our menu, George recommends the BLT! This is one of our classic All Day Breakfasts made with farmhouse bread. It’s absolutely packed full of flavour. When George isn’t working, he enjoys going to the gym and spending time with his family at his home in Wath.

Sally Tesseyman Barista and Waitress

Sally’s been an employee at BEAN for around two years now. She works on front of house part-time, Tuesday to Thursday each week. Sally loves the atmosphere at BEAN and being part of a great team.
Sally lives with her husband and two young sons on a farm in Staveley. She’s really into personal fitness and when she’s not working, you can expect her to be pumping weights and carrying out cardio challenges.

Maria Hornby Kitchen Assistant

Maria is our part-time kitchen assistant. She carries out a number of tasks at BEAN, including washing up in the kitchen, assisting our chefs and waitressing. She loves working at BEAN because we have such a friendly team here.
You might not always see Maria here at BEAN because for 6 months of the year, Maria lives in the South of France!

Anna Grunewald Barista and Waitress

You’ll find Anna working at BEAN for 4 days every week. Like Sally, Anna works directly with our customers on the waitressing side. Anna enjoys the calming ambience at BEAN, which is quite a contrast to what Anna likes to do outside of work – she is a speed hunter who loves riding scooters!
Anna and her fiancé prefer camping holidays in the UK to hot weather holidays abroad. This is so they can go to Hotrod and Harley Davidson action events!
